Abhorrent

"Abhorrent" by Clada. 24in x 24in, oil on canvas, available, $1,000 USD (negotiable) this addition to my "Vanitas" Series is bold reflective piece depicting hatred. I've hardboard the intensity of disdain for certain people who have left my life and some who l can not simply part from- ultimately I feel the hatred we project is a reflection of self loathing. I work on both of these by not allowing the negative emotions to grow.
Like weeds they can entangle and it can be easy to get lost- the Red Lilies represent hatred and their almost bigger than the skull itself - almost swallowing the psyche, their stalks entangled and disappearing in the darkness. Lavender symbolizes distrust - while part of healing makes it difficult to ment existing relationships.
The coral snake is a warning - both to the perpetrator as well as the viewer that toxic within is still harmful.
This broken composition has no end or vantage point to capture the cyclical effect of hate. Also to change perspectives — as no two are alike. A single Cabbage White butterfly exists alone to be both a surrender but also peace- but its presence is disruptive in this hot toned canvas.
