(SOLD) Widow

$50.00 / Sold out

14 in x 11 in. Acrylic on board. Frame included.

The Black Widow is infamous for the potent venom she uses on her male mate. While the name gives serial killers and characters an odd badge of honor, the spider is scorned. In truth, a person is likelier to be killed by another person or even their partner before a black widow. And the Latrodectus family is most known for the black hourglass widow, but what about the equally beautiful and mild-tempered brown widow? Since they are almost overlooked, I left her blended in with the roots and stones hanging above the flower patch. As if to protect the flowers. She hangs overhead displaying her faint red hourglass as a warning not to medal with her flower patch. The white carnations are pure, while the crimson roses weave a sort of pattern representing why the female spider is lethal. Humans go so far as to safeguard innocent, loving feelings that can make anyone feel vulnerable.
