Superstition

8in x 8in oil on canvas. As someone very critical of my work and how I pursue painting- what many would consider an obsolete medium in the age of installation and function. However, every painter is defined by their work's vast variety and state of mind. So I painted my friend's cat being friendly to me. I challenge myself not to expect every piece to capture my skill and intellect- but what do I care about? What simple values do I wish to share? Days where I don't even want to wash my face or leave the house because I feel bleak about the future. A black cat with negative connotations- this cat in particular, always hissing and bitting me one day. It's as if I'm looking at him through rose-colored glasses. Patience and time present better connections and better days.
